For this project, my goal still remains education. During my research I discovered an exhibit by the Chicago Field Museum called Creatures of Light: Nature's Bioluminescence. Although they didn't have a dedicated microsite already, they did have a series of webpages online that featured information relating to the exhibit as well as some of the information included within it. I think my communication goal would be to create an independent microsite that could also act as a complement to a hypothetical museum exhibit, and in that mindset I would cater primarily to museum visitors while also seeking out donations and sponsorships for future exhibits.
As for things I don't know how to do and would like to implement, there are a few things I have in mind.
First, my main learning goal for this project would be to create a bar at the top of the page that remains at the very top of the viewer's page, no matter how far they scroll down. This will serve as a navigation tool for viewers. The words of the bar that indicate sections would also be highlighted depending on what part of the page you were on. Alteratively, I could figure out how to have the same function for a simple "Back to the top" button, and have the directory stay at the top of the page and not scroll along with the viewer.
Second, although we recently focused on buttons, I think I would like some help on implementing glowing orbs that look vaguely like fireflies, or simply dim lights, and have a hoverstate where moving over them reveals a glowing creature emerging from the darkness. What I would need help with specifically is animating the hover states so that they don't simply just fade in, but could maybe pan in from the side as they fade in or fade in from the center (or something along those lines).
